Happy Birthday Adrian!

We have so given up on celebrating birthdays on the actual day of the birthday it is just sad. It just gets harder to work around everyone's schedule and the birthday person wishes. We opened Adrian's presents last night after dinner since Gary & Caitlin both work today and then Caitlin has a date tonight. We are going to meet Gary for the movie Knowing at 5 tonight and then go out to dinner and then on to Cheesecake Factory for a slice of Cookie Dough Cheesecake. Although after eating a bucket of popcorn at the movie that may be our dinner!

Once again the pictures are in the wrong order but this time they start at the end of the present opening and work toward the first gift opened. Please excuse Gary's holey slipper in each of the pictures. That could be his way of letting me know what he could have used for his birthday!

He was very excited about this new shirt. He is thinking he will buy a Fox sweatshirt with some of his money he got for his birthday.

I think reading makes his head hurt!

Adrian's reaction to Mom & Dad's card.

Michael, I am not sure he understood your card but at 8 last night he was asking if the banks were still open. He is also into collecting the presidential coins so is excited to add to his collection.
Adrian said to tell everyone thank you for the gifts. He is enjoying everything he received.

PROM!!

This has got be the cutest way to get asked to prom. At 10 pm last night our doorbell rang and this is what we saw:

Now she needs to be creative with her response and hopefully keep the Survivor theme. In case you can't tell the man on the right is holding letters spelling PROM. The tiki torches were lit but didn't stay burning because they had no oil inside.

Adrian with his BLING!

I had forgotten all about this picture until I saw it on Jeremy's new slide show. This was taken 2 years ago?

Back from Portland

We went to this doughnut shop in Portland and they have some really good doughnuts! Gary recorded a show on the Food Channel a few weeks ago that was about places to eat while in Portland. Voodoo Doughnut Shop was one of them. The first time we went Gary got a Voodoo doughnut which is in the shape of a voodoo doll w/ chocolate icing and a pretzel stick stuck in the heart. It is filled w/ raspberry filling for the blood effect. I got what was called Ole Dirty Bastard which was a doughnut topped w/ crushed Oreo's drizzled w/ peanut butter. It was wonderful. We told Caitlin about them and ended up going back Sunday night to get some for her to share w/ the girls in her room. She wasn't allowed to leave the hotel unless it was w/ the whole squad. The second time we got more of the Ole Dirty, one topped w/ Cocoa Puffs, and Bavarian Creme. It is a very interesting business. It is open 24 hrs. 7 days a week and is only big enough for about 6 people to fit inside the door, place your order and walk out the door. Each time we went we stood in line so they are quite popular. You can even get married at the store. On the back of the brochure it lists the different types of wedding packages they offer.

On Friday we rented a car and drove to Spirit Mountain Casino. It was only 54 miles from Portland but it took us an hour and half to get there. We weren't having very much luck and was thinking it was time to leave when Gary decided to put in his last $5 he was going to spend and ending up getting a Royal Flush on a video poker machine! We were so excited. It is the second time we have ever gotten this hand on a video poker machine. One of these times we might actually get one at the tables were we could win more money but we won't complain about our winnings thus far.

The cheer competition was interesting and exciting. I really like to watch the level 4, 5, & 6 all stars. The tumbling is amazing and the guys make it look so effortless. Caitlin took first place w/ her stunt group that performed on Friday - they only competed againest one other group but that is okay. Her squad took 3rd out of 5. Sunday's performance did not go well and we think if they could have completed the routine flawlessly they would have taken 2nd. She enjoyed the trip though and is looking forward to her last competition this weekend. We still don't understand how we compete in nationals before we compete in state but what do we know? This Saturday is the grand finale of her cheer career. It is hard to believe that this sport that has consumed our lives for the last 5 years is coming to a close. Caitlin mentioned that one of her routines is on youtube for any of you interested in watching. I am sure it is under Rocky Mtn. Cheer Meridian but I haven't actually looked for it yet.

Happy 18th Caitlin!

Bright & early this morning we were opening presents. Caitlin has cheer practice after school, then has to sing at freshman orientation at 6. Afterwards we are going to dinner at Red Robin and figured it will be close to bedtime (not really) by the time we get home. We still have to fit in brownies & ice cream at some point too!

The pictures are out of order - I can't figure out how to move them without uploading them all over again. Notice the time in the background - it really was 6:40 a.m.

What a Great Idea!??

Sunday night Adrian discovered a loose tooth. He worked on getting it loose during the 2 hours of Celebrity Apprentice but had no luck in getting it to come out. Last night right before dinner he came up with the following idea:

He ate his dinner with the floss tied around his tooth and the end of the club. He would try to push the club down but it would hurt.

Notice Gary just watching in awe that he came up with this idea.
Adrian just couldn't bring himself to pull the golf club. We tried to convince him that it probably wasn't ready to come out yet. However he is to much like his dad - tell him no and surely he will find a way to make it happen! The tooth was pulled out this morning first thing. The golf club must have loosened the tooth.
