Today we went boating at Lucky Peak with Caitlin's old boyfriends' family (Kyle) and had a great time. It became even more exciting when the hill across from where we were docked started going up in flames! At first we could just see a little smoke and weren't sure if maybe a boat was having problems but before long there was a lot of smoke so we cruised over to check it out. It appeared that the fire started just behind a picnic table at a dock. No one was docked there, but there were a ton of boaters that were coming in to watch the fire. After about 5 minutes the sheriff boat, a coast guard boat, and another very large boat that must have been helping them out made everyone move to the center of the channel so that the tankers (that is they called them) could come in to fill the buckets. We sat and watched for quite a while. I thought it was pretty neat. One thing, Ben & Faith maybe you can explain this, but one helicopter was quite a bit quicker at filling his bucket, dropping, and refilling. It appeared that his bucket was larger than the other helicopter's, but man was the one copter slow. The quick one looked like he layed the helicopter right on its' side flying. Adrian thought it was going down a few times!
I had our camera so I took quite a few pictures today - 71 to be exact! I did put them in slideshow which is on the right hand side. I know that is quite a few to look at but I know the grandparent's enjoy all of them. Along with Kyle was the older brother of a friend of both Caitlin's & Kyle's. His name is Taylor. He is in the pictures with Adrian & Caitlin. We did pull Adrian, Kyle, & Taylor at one point and Gary dumped each one of them several times. In one of the pictures you can see Kyle in the background as we were starting to turn around to get him. We all had a great time and topped it off with dinner at PF Chang's. It was a really great day! Matt & Colleen are coming over tomorrow for lunch so that we can see Silas and they can see Caitlin. I haven't seen Silas since he was just a few weeks old. Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend.
Real quick, I just read the news website and it states that the fire started because a charcoal fire escaped it's ring.
