Police and Sheriff's Deupties investigate a hit and run accident in Eagle Friday morning.
EAGLE - Police say a 17-year-old girl who hadn't fully cleared the frost of her windshield hit and severely injured a 14-year-old boy on the way to school Friday morning.
It happened on Park Lane near Eagle High School at about 6:30 a.m. The boy was found unconscious by the side of the road nearly an hour later by a neighbor.
The teenage boy was taken to a Boise hospital with injuries that are described as life-threatening and severe. Ada County Sheriff Gary Raney says if the boy survives, he will have injuries that will impact the rest of his life.
Police say the Eagle High School junior was driving to school to make a 6:40 a.m. class. They say she hadn't completely cleared the frost off her windshield and struck the boy with her car. They say she realized she hit something, but thought it was a road sign - and say she didn't know she hit the boy - who was walking on the side of the road - in an area that did not have sidewalks.
From there she went to school - and police say she "attempted to do the right thing" by making phone calls, but they didn't elaborate on who she called or what she said.
After the discovery of the boy at about 7:50 a.m., police began an investigation that led them to the girl's silver passenger car in the student section of the Eagle High School parking lot.
They then determined who the driver was and tracked her down at a nearby elementary school where she was volunteering. When officers arrived and informed her of what happened, they say she was emotionally and physically distraught. She recounted the story to officers.
Raney called the case a "preventable tragedy that could lead to criminal charges." He says the case will be turned over to the Ada County Prosecutor, and it is currently unclear what charges she may face. She is described as a person of faith and a good student.
Park Lane was closed for several hours in the area of the school while police investigated the incident.

Hi Melanie, I was wondering how long it would take before somebody asked me the results of Dylan's appointment. Everything is fine, the pediatric cardiologist basically said "Yes he has a heart murmur, so what?" He said it may get louder when he's sick, but there's nothing to worry about. He also told me that peadiatric cardiologists know alot more about congenital heart defects like mine, and as my cardiologist just moved to Idaho, he suggested that I think about seeing a pediatric cardiologist from now on. I did get a Wii Fit, that was Faith's stipulation on me getting a Wii. Hey, I just noticed Faith put stipulation on my stipulation. Just when you think you're getting the upper hand...
No yearly check ups needed. As for the hula hoop thing, I'm all over it. That would be funny.
