Choir Performance & Sweetheart's Pictures

Last Thursday we went to a choir performance/spaghetti dinner for Caitlin. Below are two pictures from that night. The girls sang Does Your Mother Know from Mamma Mia.

Caitlin & Jennica

Jennica, Aleigha, Caitlin, & Allyson

Jennica, Caitlin & Kyle the night of Sweatheart's. The girl's had on their converse tennis shoes rather than dress shoes.

They had a great time. For their day date they made a movie. Dinner was at Macaroni Grill. The dance was down at BSU because this dance is district wide - meaning all the highschools were able to attend. The evening ended playing laser tag at Boondocks.

USU? BSU?? ISU???

Well, we think the reality of graduating and moving out has begun to sink in. Yesterday Caitlin gets up and on her way out the door to a farewell & work she states that she is going to go to BSU instead of Utah State. Why? I ask. Just because is her reply. Then she is out the door. So last night we went out to eat and started talking about college. One minute she is fine and then the next she is completely sobbing! We had asked her if her decision had anything to do wtih Jennica choosing to go to BYU Provo rather than USU with her. Obviously by her breaking down that was part of it. Then further into the conversation we find out that Kyle (the boyfriend who is a junior) has something to do with it too. When tears finally subside we hear that she is really thinking that since she didn't get a full ride scholarship to USU that she had applied for she thought it would just be easier to go to BSU but she is still moving out. Despite the fact that she still has a 2 yr tuition free scholarship to Utah. Why move out when you could live at home for free? Because at home she has a bedtime! So as of last night Caitlin no longer has a bedtime since she will be 18 next week and can make her own decisions!

This is so much fun!

To make the evening even better - Gary, the boys, and I were watching a movie in the front room when all of a sudden we could hear her carrying on again. We come downstairs and she is sobbing on the phone w/ Jennica who is also sobbing (we could hear her!) in her room with the door shut that is how loud they were - and our movie was on in surround sound and we could still hear her. I am thinking all of this college stuff doesn't even happen till August and they will still see each other every day at school for the rest of the year!

It is a huge decision to make and a lot is going on for her right now with cheer, senior project, work, homework, a boyfriend, and making college decisions. Hopefully she will have had a better day today and the choices to be made will be clearer in time.

Oh, the joys of parenthood!!

Purina Diet

My friend Heidi emailed this to me and I would forward it on but I still don't have everyones' email addresses from when we replaced our computer (hint Mom & Dad, Jeremy, Michael, Tim & Matt!!) so I will do the same as she did and post it on the blog. Not much else is new here. Caitlin had a choir performance last night. I will try to put some video on later if I can figure it out. The videos can never be very long so that is frustrating. Hope everyone is well.

Purina Diet

Yesterday I was buying 2 large bags of Purina dog chow at Wal-Mart, for my dog Sadie. I was about to check out when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think, that I had an elephant?

Since I had little else to do, on impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I ended up in the hospital last time. On the bright side though, I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of every hole in my body and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was enthralled with my story by now.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food had poisoned me I told her no; I had stopped in the middle of the parking lot to lick my butt and a car hit me. I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard!

WAL-MART won't let me shop there anymore.

Happy Birthday Gary!

This weekend we celebrated Gary's birthday since Marilyn was here. We had the presents sitting on the counter to open later in the day. If you notice in the picture there is a small bowl of peanuts on the right. We were cleaning up breakfast and Gary was reaching for a peanut when OOPS his hand slipped and tore a hole in his present. Then low and behold it happened again. So I decided to take care of the situation and wrapped the presents with packaging tape. I thought this would deter him but no. I had left the scissors on the counter and he came in picked them up and OOPS again. He told the boys it isn't good to run with scissors because he ended up poking another hole. So I broke out the packaing tape again - wrapped the presents up some more and then stuck them to the counter. Then he started in on the gift from Marilyn. It just wouldn't end.

He had quite the time getting them opened.

He had the boys pretty much rolling on the floor with laughter and it was entertaining. He had a good day. We spent the day playing Settlers of Catan trying to figure out new expansion packs and then went out to dinner at Cool Hand Lukes. I think we are going to go to dinner again tonight since today is his birthday & possibly Coldstones.

Bomb Threats

So yesterday Anthony's school had a bomb threat and they kept the kids in the school in what is called a "soft lockdown". Both Caitlin and Anthony's schools have had the threat written on the bathroom stall. I think this is becoming more than a little bit ridiculous because the kids do not take it seriously. Anthony thought it was funny that one girl in his class was making out her will. His take was that if it was really going to happen they would have evacuated the kids. They just don't understand the possible severity of it because it happens to often. That is the third one in the district that I know about since Nov. It is just irritating.
