Well, we think the reality of graduating and moving out has begun to sink in. Yesterday Caitlin gets up and on her way out the door to a farewell & work she states that she is going to go to BSU instead of Utah State. Why? I ask. Just because is her reply. Then she is out the door. So last night we went out to eat and started talking about college. One minute she is fine and then the next she is completely sobbing! We had asked her if her decision had anything to do wtih Jennica choosing to go to BYU Provo rather than USU with her. Obviously by her breaking down that was part of it. Then further into the conversation we find out that Kyle (the boyfriend who is a junior) has something to do with it too. When tears finally subside we hear that she is really thinking that since she didn't get a full ride scholarship to USU that she had applied for she thought it would just be easier to go to BSU but she is still moving out. Despite the fact that she still has a 2 yr tuition free scholarship to Utah. Why move out when you could live at home for free? Because at home she has a bedtime! So as of last night Caitlin no longer has a bedtime since she will be 18 next week and can make her own decisions!
This is so much fun!
To make the evening even better - Gary, the boys, and I were watching a movie in the front room when all of a sudden we could hear her carrying on again. We come downstairs and she is sobbing on the phone w/ Jennica who is also sobbing (we could hear her!) in her room with the door shut that is how loud they were - and our movie was on in surround sound and we could still hear her. I am thinking all of this college stuff doesn't even happen till August and they will still see each other every day at school for the rest of the year!
It is a huge decision to make and a lot is going on for her right now with cheer, senior project, work, homework, a boyfriend, and making college decisions. Hopefully she will have had a better day today and the choices to be made will be clearer in time.
Oh, the joys of parenthood!!

Oh my gosh, we are having the same emotional roller coaster at our house. We talked with Sydnie about finances and how she should probably live at home at least until she has a full time job and can get some more money saved up and about how she is ready to be making more decisions on her own. She actually agreed with us but she was still crying and yelling and we really don't know why. It is just crazy how she just freaked out about nothing and plus she knows everything already too. I remember being the same way, so all I can do is smile.
